About Steve Norwood
Steve Norwood—widely known as SoloSteve—is a longtime singer-songwriter rooted in folk, rock, bluegrass, and country. Active in Alaska’s music scene since 1994, he first gained prominence as a founding member of The Photonz, a group that toured across Alaska, the Lower 48, and Hawaii while sharing stages with major acts including Sam Bush, Leftover Salmon, Blues Traveler, and Bill Kreutzmann’s House of Spirits. After the band’s successful run, Steve launched a prolific solo career, releasing multiple albums such as King of the Mountain, Thin Ice, and the hit single Rainy River, with a new single, Wild Hearts, scheduled for 2026. Performing as SoloSteve since 2023, he has incorporated looping into his dynamic live shows and has performed alongside artists like Peter Rowan, Jeff Austin, the Young Dubliners, and Melissa Mitchell. His songwriting has earned national recognition, including winning the Relix Magazine Singer-Songwriter Contest for his track “Flood.” Today, Steve continues to blend original compositions with beloved classics, delivering engaging performances across solo, band, and collaborative projects.
